New Flooring Fitted in Barn Conversion in Shenstone, Lichfield!
In the UK, barn conversions have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Typical features include high ceilings, rustic interiors, and generous proportions, and with more and more families desiring open-plan living, barn conversions often lend themselves nicely to this kind of lifestyle.
In most barn conversions, you would normally expect to find exposed brick and wooden beams, and it’s these elements that can influence what flooring you choose to complement them. All Floor One recently installed new flooring in a barn conversion in Shenstone, Lichfield. Our clients chose J2 Flooring ST02 Coral Stone. This stone-effect luxury vinyl flooring was for the main living area and downstairs toilet.
Before we fitted the flooring, we used Ardex smoothing underlayment products and Uzin glues over the existing tiles. You can see what the original tiled floor looked like from some of the photographs included. Once we had a smooth, level surface, we used 50 m2 of the luxury vinyl tiles, along with a 3mm ST03 fossil limestone grout strip. We neatly fitted a curved border around the double bullnose on the stairs. You can see the finished look of the floor in the photographs.
Even though this was quite a large open space to work in, with our expertise and skills, we are never overwhelmed by the size of a room. We can also adapt, as we did on this project. We were able to work effectively and efficiently in the downstairs toilet, which was a much more compact space.
